The Corrosion Resistance Of Stainless Steel Tees Depends On Chromium

Date: | Read: 5

The corrosion resistance of ss t joint depends on chromium, but because chromium is one of the components of steel, the protection methods are different.

When the chromium addition reaches 10.5%, the atmospheric corrosion resistance of ss tee 1 2 is significantly improved, but when the chromium content is higher, although the corrosion resistance can still be improved, it is not significant. The reason is that when the steel is alloyed with chromium, the type of metal oxide in the surface layer is changed to a surface layer metal oxide similar to that formed on pure chromium metal materials. This tightly adhered chromium-rich metal oxide protects the surface layer to prevent further oxidation. This oxide layer is very thin, and the natural luster of the surface layer of ss tee fitting can be seen through it, giving stainless pipe tee a unique surface layer. Moreover, if the surface layer is damaged, the exposed steel surface layer will react with the air to self-repair, re-form this metal oxide "passivation film" and continue to play a protective role. Therefore, all stainless reducing tee elements have a common characteristic, that is, the chromium content is above 10.5%.
