Causes of cracking of stainless steel reducers
The reasons for the cracking of stainless steel flanged concentric reducer made of 304 stainless steel in a short period of time were analyzed and studied. The cracks and fracture morphologies of the failed parts were characterized by metallographic microscope and scanning electron microscope, and the chemical composition of the parent material, weld, heat-affected zone and corrosion products were analyzed by electron energy spectrum. The results showed that the leakage of the pipeline was caused by sensitization during welding, and intergranular stress corrosion cracking occurred rapidly under the dual action of chloride and sulfide solutions, and corresponding protective measures were proposed.
